ABOUT CRATE.IO is the developer of CrateDB, a global leading-edge IoT database, extending the limits of time-series applications. The highly scalable distributed database solution combines the performance of NoSQL with the power and simplicity of standard SQL. Designed specifically to support machine data applications and IIoT, CrateDB is optimized for time series and industrial data and runs in the cloud on Azure and Amazon as well as on the edge and on-premise. 

We are a VC and Angel funded global technology company gearing up for hyper-growth with offices in the USA, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We are looking for a global head of Marketing (m/f/x) to develop our Marketing competency and successfully grow and lead our team. Core functions include demand generation, PR/AR, product-, partner- and developer marketing, communications, brand as well as Marketing operations.


This role will lead the global Marketing function, people and budget at and will report directly to the CEO.

      • Strategy, budget, people
        • Create and drive the marketing strategy, working closely with Executive Committee
        • Define, build and manage a high performing Marketing team
        • Define and manage Marketing budgets with specific focus on ROI
      • Demand Generation
        • Build up demand generation engines, always on campaigns, competitive/seasonal campaigns via multiple Marketing vehicles, delivering an MQL pipeline while optimizing cost of acquisition
        • Establish digital marketing through SEO/SEM programs that drive, and convert, website traffic into leads
      • Product Marketing
        • Continuously evolve Crate’s corporate messaging, solution value propositions, targeting key audiences (both business and technical ones)
        • Help the company understand the market landscape and determine the key market opportunities to target
      • PR, AR, Thought Leadership, Communications (internal and external)
        • Manage PR/AR as well as internal and external communications
        • Define and develop thought leadership assets
      • Developer Marketing
        • Create global developer evangelism and marketing presence making Crate the preferred database provider
      • Partner Marketing
        • Develop partner marketing competency for ISV, SI, and OEM partners
      • Brand Steward
        • Establish’s brand in the chosen markets and be our brand steward internally and externally
      • Marketing Operations: web, tools, reporting
        • Create a strong reporting and success measurement system; current tools include Marketo and Salesforce


      • 10+ years of relevant, B2B marketing experience, with a preference for candidates with experience in high-growth technology companies
      • Must have deep experience in demand generation Marketing
      • Developer Marketing experience required
      • Proven people manager and leader
      • Consistent track record of delivering pipeline growth and return on investment on budget and time
      • Data-driven approach to the way you work and make decisions, also a strong focus on using data to influence strategy across the business
      • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with a fluency in English a must, German beneficial
      • Agile and experimental, bringing new ideas and moving fast to hit goals
      • Marketo and Salesforce experience or other equivalent tools is a PLUS
